The Feature Spread #2
Now, my spread contains several aspects that I have not mentioned in my previous post that I will mention now. One major aspect of the feature spreads in the genre that I researched contained an image revolving the cover, which may feature spread has as well, and the feature spread’s actual bulk- the actual article- was wrapped around the picture. Usually, the words wrapped around the image on the image’s right side and not the left, one side only. This feature is also in my spread since it can be generalized to my specific genre. The genre that I researched also had drop caps within their feature spreads, so I decided that it was necessary for my feature spread to have one as well. Since the business genre usually had spreads that contained font, which was black, the color for my font would also be black.
After a little thought, it does make some sense that this genre would consider only black within a spread because it is easy to read with a white background, which most spreads within the genre use. I contemplated on having the spread’s background to be grey since I saw a spread within the Entrepreneur magazine containing this color as their spread background but felt has the grey color may spawn a or imply towards the audience that there is a gloomy outcome in entering the Forex market.
While creating the spread, I also contemplated the second image's placement. Although the genre that I researched had their images located in the middle or in the corners of the spreads that they had, I wanted to put the image right in the bottom of the page. This was because the image itself was large when considering the aspect ratio of the columns and the page itself. I had to create a rectangular frame and manually tell the program to crop/fit the image on the frame. This allowed flexibility with the image and allowed me to drag the image upwards to the middle of the page, fitting the genre that I researched. Also, this allowed me to add a feature that I was not planning to recreate in my magazine but was done in my genre. This was the text under the image. Usually, my genre has one image with a quote around it if the image itself is not the main point of the spread or main cover person, allowing me to write a quote of the individual within the image. Furthermore, moving the image up allowed me to put the italicized text that summarized the image in only a few words. This was in my genre when the topic of the spread could confuse the reader; I felt as the image could confuse my audience if they did not read the spread but just glanced over it. The text summarizes the image and the main focus of the spread the Forex market and how one individual has made living trading in it.
The basis of spread:

For my spread combined both spreads since the original image did not show both pages of the feature spread.
