Magazine Genre Codes and Conventions #6 (Presentation)

Entrepreneur Magazine Analysis

While designing my magazine, I will keep in mind of the cover since for the most part, the cover image should represent what the magazine will be focusing on in depth. Also, since I personally like fonts that have serifs I might use this type of font for my magazine. Also, I should consider the color in the background of the image since the background color can influence an individual to either buy the magazine or not. Furthermore, I should consider my cover picture and the cover line’s design. Since this particular magazine has their main cover line on the left of the cover with multiple fonts, colors, and sizes this has given some ideas for my magazine.

For my magazine’s table of contents, I should try to give it a font that speaks volume to what my magazine will be about. This part of my magazine goes beyond just the scope of the genre but has to correspond to the specific issue I am going to delve in. I should also consider the number of pages that the magazine itself holds and the number of pages that the table of contents has as well; however, this depends on how much I am willing to write. The range of pages should be around 60 pages and the number of pages within the table of contents is going to be three since the issues I analyzed had between two and four. Also, the images that go into the table of contents should evoke a sense of purpose and meaning. These images should also try to captivate the reader, show the reader what you are trying to accomplish with creating this magazine, and these images should try to get the reader to feel some sort of emotion- mainly courage, pride, and faith in their belief that they will become a successful entrepreneur. Also, because my magazine will delve in economics I should possibly talk about economic myths and issues that we face in the 21st century. Also, I must keep in mind the colors of my table of contents; After analyzing the magazine issues I have concluded that I will likely be using blacks, grays, white, and a sprinkle of gold and possibly red or light orange.

For my spreads, I will have to keep in mind if my magazine wants to convey a simple look that appeals to many individuals such as the black font with the white background. Also, I should keep in mind the font colors I will be using if I want to convey a certain mood towards the audience. I could also add a summary or if I feel as my audience will not understand the topic I can have a brief explanation in a box. I should also consider the types and number of photos within my spread. Maybe create sections within the spread t divide and simplify it for my audience. Furthermore, a consideration that I should be keeping in mind is when to bold my words. These spreads had titles bolded but also one had bolded letters for the audience to know when they have reached a new section within the spread.

For my target audience, I should keep in mind the colors of fonts and backgrounds. Also, I should try to use images and make my magazine's main talking point to be something that revolves around my target audience.
