Magazine Codes and Conventions #2 (Table of Contents)
Magazine table of contents#1
Magazine table of contents#2
issue goes in depth within its table of contents about the three laws of treponomics and how to better one’s self in terms of starting off business and getting clients and other contacts. The magazine has set up their table of contents as a one on one intimate conversation between two business people: the writer and the reader- of the magazine. The font is sans-serif which establishes the informal conversation that is trying to be had between the reader and the magazine. On the first page of the table of contents, there are five images within this section of the magazine, one being a sponsor from Cadillac which puts emphasis that this magazine is very successful. The four pictures convey a sense of teaching that the magazine is trying to set up. These teaching style images include a liter teacher trying to teach a graph. A picture on the human mind and how within one’s mind there is a trend in which they follow. A picture with two women that are executive coaches and a brief caption explaining the picture, could motivate female readers to strive and become executive heads. The final picture is a table with the averages on trends in international waters; since this magazine delves into business and for the most part business can be grown in any country, the image with this table illustrates how this magazine tries to give faith on young businessmen and women.
Magazine table of contents #3
This table of contents with the magazine is pretty distinct. This is because the magazine is primarily about a successful woman rather than their standard issues that are either talking about topics that face entrepreneurs or having a male entrepreneur on the front cover. Since the cover was about a female the table of contents had a female image with it and what she does great, influencing the web. The font is sans-serif which means the issue will be taking an informal approach. The images of lighting cause her to look more pronounced and powerful. Around the subheadings around the image, there is a caption and the heading itself is surrounded in a bright red box which causes the reader t immediately stare at and read.
For my magazine’s table of contents, I should try to give it a font that speaks volume to what my magazine will be about. This part of my magazine goes beyond just the scope of the genre but has to correspond to the specific issue I am going to delve in. I should also consider the number of pages that the magazine itself holds and the number of pages that the table of contents has as well; however, this depends on how much I am willing to write. The range of pages should be around 60 pages and the number of pages within the table of contents is going to be three since the issues I analyzed had between two and four. Also, the images that go into the table of contents should evoke a sense of purpose and meaning. These images should also try to captivate the reader, show the reader what you are trying to accomplish with creating this magazine, and these images should try to get the reader to feel some sort of emotion- mainly courage, pride, and faith in their belief that they will become a successful entrepreneur. Also, because my magazine will delve in economics I should possibly talk about economic myths and issues that we face in the 21st century. Also, I must keep in mind the colors of my table of contents; After analyzing the magazine issues I have concluded that I will likely be using blacks, grays, white, and a sprinkle of gold and possibly red or light orange.
